A great way to choose your perfect photographer is to look at their recent weddings

If you’ve spent any time researching photographers, you’ll have seen that words like ‘natural’ and ‘documentary’ mean different things to different people. Start with the portfolio to ensure you’re on the same page, and if those images speak to you, I would then recommend a scroll through one or two recent weddings just to be sure.

Look at the all the little unposed moments and decide if that’s how you want your story to be told.

It doesn’t really matter if it’s a wedding at your actual venue, an experienced photographer will have a consistent style and quality of capturing couples and their guests, whether the backdrop is indoors, outdoors, sunshine or rain. Hero sunset photos are great, but that’s just a tiny percentage of the images you might receive, if the weather obliges. In documentary wedding photography, It’s the little moments that matter the most.
