A Relaxed Summer Wedding at Beautiful Brookfield Barn

We are absolutely blown away with our wedding photographs!

We are absolutely blown away with our wedding photographs!
Jenny has perfectly captured the love, fun and laughter of our special day, giving us memories to look back on again and again.
From the very start Jenny made us feel relaxed in front of the camera, capturing beautiful pictures from our pre-wedding shoot that included our son too!
So many of our guests complimented on how Jenny was hardly noticed during the day but that she has captured the most wonderful photographs and finer details!
Jenny, we cannot thank you enough for everything – you really are the best!

Chloe, Luke and Huxley x

This is Chloe and Luke’s Story

I first met Chloe, Luke and their baby son, Huxley in person on their pre-wedding shoot on the beach in March. Most of my couples who have babies decide to bring them along for the session which I always really enjoy! I used to love photographing relaxed family sessions on the beach or in local parks, but gave them up to focus purely on weddings as there were simply not enough days in the weekend to do both and spend time with my own family. So it’s always a pleasure when a couple asks if it’s okay to bring their little one(s).

Chloe and Luke had the best of both worlds on their beach session, with some fun couple time alone with me before baby Huxley joined us – I know they really appreciated Luke’s Mum coming along to help out! Huxley enjoyed some nap time and when his turn came to be photographed, he voluntarily posed for the camera and was nothing but big beaming grins! Just the cutest baby, and for Chloe and Luke, some lovely memories captured of this very special time in their lives. I was over the moon to receive this lovely feedback from our pre-wedding session:

Hi Jenny,
Wow! Thank you so much for these, we absolutely love them and cannot wait for you to photograph our wedding.
Thank you so much for letting us include Huxley too. These are special memories we will cherish.
Best Wishes
Chloe, Luke and Huxley

family pre-wedding shoot on the beach

Fast forward five months to August, and it was lovely to catch up again on the big day. The weather was a perfect not-too- hot mix of sun and scattered cloud, with beautiful golden hour light in the evening. As with all my couples, Chloe and Luke chose me as their photographer to simply document their day as it really happened, candidly capturing joyful tears and laughter and telling their own unique story through my fly-on-the-wall onservations.

Plus of course a few relaxed couple photos, which at Brookfield Barn weddings are lovely to do in the fields across from the lake. The grounds boast a bridge and a large tree swing and although close by, are just far enough from guests to give couples a bit of quiet time. Often this time alone is the only time in the day when the newly-weds get to talk to each other properly and just enjoy spending time together. So although I’m tagging along for some photos, I always keep things relaxed and let my couples just enjoy the time out. I want them to remember feeling happy as a newly married couple and not worried about how to pose. It’s how they feel that will show in the photos and make them special.

With it being an early August wedding, we had the benefit of long daylight hours and Chloe and Luke were happy to take full advantage of the opportunity for a second 15 minutes or so of couple time at Golden Hour. That lovely time of day when the sun is soft and low in the sky and creates a lovely glow in couple portraits. Definitely not to be missed if you get lucky with the weather!

We also got especially lucky with the appearance of deers – regular guests at Brookfield Barn! They don’t let you come too close, but the white one stopped and posed for me for a nano-second whilst Chloe and Luke looked on – you can see the lovely moment in the photos below!

Chloe and Luke opted to have a small number of posed family photos too, and I’m usually asked to take a big group photo of everyone – in this case, around 95 guests – on the steps at the front of the barn. Whilst I’m mostly about everything candid, I’m always happy to capture a few group photos – it’s important to most couples to have a few of the bridal party and immediate family and I’m there to photograph what’s important to you. Just don’t have me lining up too many groups or I’ll run out of time to capture the fun stuff (see My Approach to Your Day for more on this point!)

I thoroughly enjoyed capturing all the little touches and happy memories of their special day at beautiful Brookfield Barn. As the photographer, I’m part of a whole team of people whose passion it is to give their couples the perfect wedding day. On this occasion, it was lovely to work with one of my favourite local florists, Tony Dunn Flowers, and talented cake maker Kasserina Cakes amongst others. You can find a full list at the bottom of this page.

Planning a relaxed wedding at Brookfield Barn or another of the many beautiful barns in East and West Sussex?  I’d love to capture your story!
