Hi, I’m Jenny

A little about me
I live in Shoreham-by-Sea, just a stone’s throw from Brighton and nestled between the sea and the South Downs. It’s the perfect location for my love of the great outdoors!
I capture weddings in Sussex, Devon and throughout the South of England. I’m always happy to travel for couples who love my work. Many of my couples opt for gorgeous countryside barns or places close to the sea – relaxed venues surrounded by nature. Some have religious ceremonies, others shy away from tradition. But all of them want candid, unobtrusive photography to tell their unique story.
Not too keen on being photographed?
Maybe you’re a little anxious about being centre stage for the day?
You might even have considered not having a professional photographer, as posing really isn’t your thing.
Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place!
I’m a people watcher, with a passion for capturing the perfect moment. I’ll mingle with you and your guests virtually unseen. You’ll receive a fantastic set of storytelling images full of fun and personality, to take you straight back to your amazing wedding day. Posing is most definitely NOT required!
You’re in safe hands
The quality of my work is recognised by the prestigious Royal Photographic Society (RPS), with whom I achieved my Licentiate in 2015.
In the ten years since, I’m proud to have received multiple awards from the RPS, as well as from world-renowned organisations representing documentary wedding photographers. These include: This is Reportage; Photographers Keeping It Real; and the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), including a Top 25 Global Ranking.
I’m also recommended as a trusted supplier at Long Furlong Barn and Pangdean Old Barn in West Sussex, and Tunnels Beaches in Devon.

We were so grateful for you. You made it easy for us, captured all of our wonderful moments and kept it natural and real.

the great outdoors
I’m a real foodie with a love of travel, and when not photographing weddings, indulge my passion for street photography and exploring new places with my family.
Closer to home, I’m always happy surrounded by water or trees and make the most of where I live with sea swimming and walks on the South Downs.
In May 2025 I completed the 100km Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge with my brother in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

why the palm tree?
I started my photography business while living in Miami, Florida. I studied with the New York Institute of Photography, and won several awards for my images of Florida wildlife and Art Deco buildings.
But it was photographing people that interested me the most. I captured my first wedding in 2009 and loved it! Jenny Rutterford Photography was born.
